Gutter Installation in Raleigh, NC
If your gutters overflow even when they are clean, they are undersized. No amount of cleaning fixes a capacity problem. Free estimate.
Your gutters overflow in a hard rain and you have already cleaned them, twice. Everyone told you it was leaves and it was not. When a clean gutter still sheets water over the front edge, the problem is capacity, and capacity is decided by three things: the width of the gutter, the size and number of downspouts, and the pitch. Cleaning cannot fix any of those.
Signs Your Gutters Are Undersized
Water going over the front edge in a normal heavy rain when the gutters are clear. Water shooting past the downspout outlet rather than going down it. Erosion trenches in the beds under the eaves. A splash line staining the siding low on the wall. Standing water sitting in a run after the rain stops, which means the pitch is wrong.
Also look at how many downspouts you have relative to how much roof drains into each one. A long run with a single downspout at one end is a common builder shortcut, and it means the far end of that gutter has to move all the water the entire length before it can escape. In Raleigh, where a summer thunderstorm can drop an inch in twenty minutes, that is the exact scenario where a gutter fails while looking perfectly clean.

Sizing It Correctly
The two common residential sizes are 5 inch and 6 inch. The step from five to six sounds small and is not, because you are adding capacity across the whole cross section, and the standard downspout that goes with a 6 inch gutter is substantially larger as well. On a steep roof, a large roof area draining to one run, or a house under heavy tree cover where partial obstruction is a fact of life, 6 inch is frequently the right answer even though 5 inch is what was originally there.
Downspout count and placement matters as much as gutter width. More outlets means less distance water has to travel inside the gutter and less chance of it backing up at the far end. We also look at where the downspouts discharge, because a downspout that empties right at the foundation is simply relocating your roof water to the worst possible place. Extensions and proper discharge away from the house are part of the job, not an upsell. And the pitch has to be right, meaning a consistent fall toward the outlets with no bellies where water can stand.
Gutter Installation Cost in Raleigh
Gutters price by linear foot, with the number driven by 5 inch versus 6 inch, material, story height, the number of corners and downspouts, and whether fascia repair is needed first.
The efficient move is bundling with a roof replacement or with fascia and soffit work, since it is the same access and the same setup. If you are getting a roof done, ask us to price gutters at the same time.
