Framed roof deck on a new addition in Raleigh, NC with underlayment going down

New Roof Installation in Raleigh, NC

Additions, garages, new builds and porch conversions. No tear-off, a clean deck, and every layer put down in the right order. Free estimate, often the same day.

You are putting a roof over something that never had one. Maybe it is an addition off the back, a detached garage, a porch you are closing in, or a whole new build where the builder left you to find your own roofer. This is the one situation in roofing where nothing has to be undone first, and that is worth more than people realize. A fresh deck means every layer goes down in the right order, which is exactly what determines whether the roof leaks in year eight.

When You Need New Roof Installation

This is the right service when there is no existing roof to work with. Additions and dormers. A detached garage or workshop. A screened porch being converted to conditioned space. New construction where the framing is up and the deck is waiting. It also applies when you are changing the roof line itself, because a new pitch or a new plane is a new roof regardless of what was there before.

The thing to plan around is timing. An exposed deck is a liability, and in a Raleigh spring you can lose a week to rain without warning. We would rather come out and dry it in properly than let framing sit open. Raleigh also requires a permit and an inspection for roofing work through City Development Services, and that has to be pulled before the work starts, not after. We handle that side of it so you are not chasing paperwork mid-project.

    Our New Roof Installation Process

We start on the deck itself, checking that the sheathing is fastened correctly and that the plane is true, because a wave in the deck shows through the finished roof forever. Then the layers go on in order: drip edge at the eaves, self-adhering ice and water shield in the valleys and along any wall intersection, synthetic underlayment across the field, and starter course before the first full shingle.

Flashing is where new installations either succeed or fail, and on an addition there is usually a lot of it. Anywhere the new roof meets the existing house wall, we run step flashing woven into the courses with counter flashing over it, not a bead of sealant. Then the field goes on, ridge vent gets cut in, and we set up intake so the new attic space can actually breathe. You will get photos of the underlayment and flashing stage, because once shingles are on, nobody can verify what is underneath.

New Roof Installation Cost in Raleigh

Price on a new installation comes down to square footage, pitch, how many planes and valleys are involved, the material you pick, and how much flashing the tie-in to the existing house requires. A simple garage is a very different number from a two-plane addition with a valley and a wall intersection. We measure, price it out, and put it in writing before anything starts. No hidden fees, and no allowances that quietly grow later.

If this is part of a larger build, tell us who else is on the job and when they need the roof dried in. We can sequence around framing and siding so nobody is waiting on us.
