You also need us if an existing skylight is leaking, fogging between the panes, or if the plastic dome has gone yellow and brittle. Older acrylic bubble skylights from the seventies and eighties are still on a lot of Raleigh homes and most of them are well past done. Curb-mounted skylights sit on a built-up frame above the roof plane and are the more forgiving option on a lower pitch. Deck-mounted units sit closer to the roof surface, look sleeker, and work well on a steeper pitch. We will tell you which suits your roof. Inside, we frame and finish the light shaft so the ceiling opening looks intentional rather than like something cut in later. And we will be honest about placement, because a skylight on a west-facing slope in a Raleigh summer can turn a room into an oven unless you spec the right glass.
