    Vinyl Siding in Raleigh, NC

The value choice, and the most common thing we install here. Thickness and insulated backing are what separate vinyl that lasts from vinyl that does not.

Vinyl is what most Raleigh homes end up with, and it deserves the position. It does not rot, it never needs painting, it handles our humidity without complaint, and it costs less than anything else that does those three things. The catch is that vinyl covers an enormous quality range under one name, and two quotes that both say vinyl siding can be very different products.

When Vinyl Is the Right Choice

Vinyl fits when you want the maintenance to end and the budget to stay reasonable. If you are tired of scraping and repainting wood every few years, if you are replacing failing siding on a rental or a home you may sell, or if you want the money to go as far as possible across a whole house, vinyl is almost certainly the answer.

It is not the right choice everywhere. Vinyl is the softest of the common sidings, so it dents in hail and can crack in a hard impact, and on a wall that catches a lot of afternoon sun the darkest colors can soften or distort. If you are in an active hail spot or you want a specific painted-wood look, fiber cement or engineered wood is worth pricing instead.

What To Look For In Vinyl

Thickness is the number that matters and almost nobody quotes it unprompted. Builder-grade vinyl runs around .040 inches thick. Better panels run .044 to .046 and up. That difference sounds trivial and it is not. Thicker panels are more rigid, hold their line across the wall instead of waving, resist impact better, and simply feel like a solid house rather than a hollow one.

Insulated vinyl has a contoured foam backing bonded to the panel that fills the space behind the profile. It costs more and it buys you three things: real added R-value, considerably better rigidity and impact resistance, and a noticeable drop in noise. On a Raleigh house with big summer cooling bills, it is worth pricing. Also ask about the color warranty, since fade resistance varies a lot and darker colors are more demanding. We will show you the actual panels rather than a chip, because you can feel the difference between gauges in your hands immediately.

    Vinyl Siding Cost in Raleigh

Vinyl is the least expensive full siding option and the spread within it is wide. Gauge, insulated versus standard, color line and profile all move the number, along with the usual square footage and complexity of the walls.

We will quote two or three gauges on your actual house so you can see what the step up costs. Often it is a smaller difference than people expect for a noticeably better result. Written estimate, no hidden fees, financing available.
